QB | YA |
Tom Brady | 8.49 |
Tony Romo | 8.09 |
Derek Anderson | 7.67 |
Peyton Manning | 7.54 |
Brett Favre | 7.23 |
Ben Roethlisberger | 7.05 |
Kurt Warner | 7.02 |
Jay Cutler | 7.01 |
Jeff Garcia | 7.00 |
Carson Palmer | 6.97 |
Surprise? None here, although the only QB that even compares to Brady (with fewer weapons) signed a contract that appears to be way under market value
How about points per passing attempt? this metric was generated by taking the number of touchdowns thrown, multiplying it by 6 (we don't give credit for PATs) and dividing by the number of attempts + the number of sacks:
QB | PA |
Tom Brady | 0.6408 |
Ben Roethlisberger | 0.5286 |
Tony Romo | 0.4145 |
Derek Anderson | 0.3849 |
Carson Palmer | 0.3158 |
Peyton Manning | 0.3146 |
Eli Manning | 0.3035 |
Matt Hasselbeck | 0.2644 |
Chad Pennington | 0.2634 |
Brian Griese | 0.2512 |
Surprises? yeah we got a few. First, Brady and Roeth average more than a .5 points per passing attempt that seems like an unbelievable number to us. In Manning's record setting season of 49 tds, his points per pass attempt was .576, which means Manning would have had to throw for 55 TDs, or attempted 51 fewer passes. Amazing. Also, how are Pennington and Griese on this list? Brett Favre, a MVP candidate, and Kitna who are having huge seasons are no where to be seen. For Favre, his lack of a running game has hurt him in the stat, he has 321 passing attempts! For Kitna, getting sacked 33 times has to hurt (and not just in this metric).
Ok that's all for now, Brian Griese? Man.....
